How far in advance should I book a private chef in Ostend? +

In July and August, and over Easter and school holidays, book three to four weeks ahead — coastal demand spikes hard. Outside the season two weeks is plenty, and short notice is often possible.

Which parts of the coast does Chef Krist cover from Ostend? +

All of Ostend including the Zeedijk, Visserskaai, Mariakerke, Raversijde and Stene, plus Bredene, Middelkerke, Westende, Oudenburg and Gistel. Other coastal addresses are covered from the nearby Knokke-Heist, De Haan and Nieuwpoort pages.

My holiday apartment kitchen is tiny. Can that work? +

Yes — holiday-rental kitchens are the norm on this coast and Chef Krist plans for them. He works with an oven, two working hob rings, a sink and some counter space, and brings anything else himself, including hot-holding gear and serving equipment.

Is the fish genuinely local? +

Yes. Ostend still has a working fishing fleet and a daily quayside trade at the Visserskaai. The menu is finalised after the morning’s landings, which is why the seafood menu is never printed in advance.

What does a private chef in Ostend cost? +

It depends on guest numbers, courses and the level of service. Intimate dinners start from around €85 per person, ingredients, preparation, service and clean-up included. Premium shellfish menus are quoted separately since the price follows the market.
